Thankful for My Son

Six years ago today my life completely changed for the third time. I had a baby boy. To be perfectly honest, I never really pictured myself as the mother of a boy. But there he was and there was no turning back. I had no idea how utterly exhausting it was going to be! Or how amazingly fun it was going to be.

So in honor of the sixth anniversary of his birth, I present 6 things that I'm thankful for about this boy:

1. His humor - He makes me laugh every. single. day.

2. His persistence - This attribute, in practice, is actually quite frustrating and usually pretty annoying but I do find myself being very appreciative of his persistent nature. It will serve him well.

3. His candor - You always know where you stand with him.

4. His hugs - I hope he never stops wanting to give me a hug.

5. His curiosity - Like the persistence, it does have it's challenges but again, I hope that curious streak continues on, because he can put it to good use.

6. His creativity - Give the child a blank piece of paper and a crayon and creates anything from a story scene to a game to the blueprint for an invention. Give him a yard with nothing but sticks and rocks and leaves and he launches into a world all his own.

Happy Birthday to the best, most amazing, sweetest, cutest, six year old boy I know!

3 justifications:

  1. After 2 girls, I wasn't sure how I would do with a boy--but now I know what you've learned--boys are just wonderful! What would we do without them?
